“Wicked”

“Wicked”

The year Brittney graduated from high school, we had her come up with one last thing she would like to do with the family before going away to college. She chose to go to an amusement park with the largest, fasted, and most number of roller coasters. So off we went to Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.  Aubrey’s request was a little more mellow (thank goodness). She wanted to watch a Broadway play, but more specifically, she wanted to see…

Girls Camp

Girls Camp

This year was Merinda’s first year at Girl’s Camp.  She had a great time with other first year campers,  friends from church,  her best friend Lauren, and a wonderful group of   Youth Camp Leaders (YCL’s)!  With camp shirts on and camp books in hand,  the girls were ready to begin their girl’s camp adventure.  Here, the Stake Camp Leaders are hashing out last minute preparations.   Even the older girls were excited for the week.  Unfortunately, this year I couldn’t stay the…

Memorial Day Picnic

Memorial Day Picnic

We had our annual Memorial Day picnic at Scott County Park again this year.  We had a great time: BBQing,  eating,  meeting new friends,  catching up with family,  and old friends,   playing balloon toss,  (which always turns into a major water fight) and last but not least, when we’re all cooled off,   a game of Ultimate Frisbee, which keeps going,   and going (dusk) and going (even after dark with glow necklaces & lighted frisbee)!

High School Graduation

High School Graduation

The night before graduation we had a nice dinner with grandma Heelis, who flew from Utah for Aubrey’s graduation.  Aubrey chose to eat at Red Robin, and we all thought it was a great choice.  High School Graduation took place at the Frankfort, KY Convention Center again this year.  But unlike years past, it seemed that every last seat in the convention center was filled.  It took a long time just for the graduates (over 400) to be seated.  But…

Farewell to Highschool

Farewell to Highschool

‘Thank You’ Friends, from Scott Co. High Scool! It is always a bitter-sweet experience for me when another school-year comes to a close, however, this year seems to be more bitter than sweet. I have been amazed at the caliber of kids in the graduating class of 2013. I have never seen a more bright, talented, supportive, well-rounded, and loving group of kids! Aubrey, Breck, and I will miss them dearly.  I would like to say a little Thank You…

Another School Year has Come and Gone. . .

Another School Year has Come and Gone. . .

Some highlights of the past school year were: Breck and Aubrey’s good friends Holly elected as Homecoming Queen, and Katelyn as Sophomore Princess, Breck voted to be apart of Homecoming Court (male) by Sophomore class (with his lovely escort Jordan), Aubrey and Breck’s good friend Lucas, chosen to be Homecoming King, Breck presenting his year-long engineering project to seven engineering professionals, Breck playing the alto, tenor, and baritone saxophones in the top high school concert and jazz bands (and…

Prom & Mormon Prom

Prom & Mormon Prom

Senior Prom   Aubrey’s friend Tyler (“Jors”) asked her to Prom this year even though for some reason she was anti-senior prom. I think neither one was too excited about the idea of going, but they finally made it official. Brad and I expressed to Aubrey that if she didn’t go, she might regret it later on in life. Luckily, she had a beautiful $15.00 Goodwill dress, Brittney to do her hair, and me to scrub the mud off her flats (which…
